Course description: The AP Computer Science course is designed to introduce students to the steps and techniques necessary for computer programming. Students will use both simple algorithms and multi-classed programs to solve various real-world problems in preparation for the Advanced Placement exam. Students will learn how to design, implement and execute many programs using the object-oriented Java programming language. Download a copy of the College Board’s description of AP Computer Science (PDF).

Teacher: Josh Sturk, Lake Region HS. Joshua Sturk is the Director of Instructional Technology for the Lake Region School District.  He studied Asian Studies and Japanese as an undergraduate and lived in Japan teaching middle school students for three years.  He has been teaching AP Computer Science for 7 years and has taught the course online before.  In his free time he loves to study and play video games.

Start date: September 4, 2012

End date: one week following the AP Exam for this course.
