AP4ALL hosts a week-long orientation before classes begin to prepare students for online learning and AP4ALL courses.

The first day of the orientation is held at the University of Maine in Orono. During this part of the orientation, students have the opportunity to meet their teacher, their fellow students, their school mentor, and AP4ALL staff. Students are given a demonstration of Moodle, which is the course management system used for AP4ALL courses.

The remainder of the orientation week (Tuesday through Friday) is comprised of daily activities and assignments completed online in Moodle. This gives students the opportunity to discover techniques and strategies that will help them to be successful in the online environment before their class even begins!

At the 2008-2009 Orientation, Sue Gendron, Commissioner of Education spoke to nearly 100 attendees about how exciting it was to be able to offer online Advanced Placement courses to Maine students who might not otherwise have had access to such coursework.
