Providing online AP courses to students in Maine
School Mentor
AP4ALL recognizes the importance of having an on-site school mentor work closely with students taking online courses. Mentor support plays a significant role in student success, and each school that registers a student must assign one person to monitor students who are participating in AP4ALL courses.
Mentors help students establish expectations for their online course, monitor student progress, and keep in touch with parents, instructors, and other support staff. AP4ALL School Mentors receive a stipend of up to $500.00 per year.
The role of the AP4ALL School Mentor is to:
• Monitor student progress and needs through regular contact, and notify AP4ALL staff of adjustments needing to be made.
• Work directly with the student to dedicate time specifically to their AP4ALL course responsibilities.
• Serve as a liaison between the student, the school and the AP4ALL instructor regarding student performance and progress.
• Proctor any tests and exams that need to be administered locally.
• Work with local technical staff and AP4ALL support staff to ensure that all students in a course have access to necessary technological resources.
• Monitoring student progress and participation activity, reporting of grades, and assisting with AP4ALL policies and procedures.
When a student registration is confirmed, School Mentors will receive information and assistance in preparing for their role.
